"Home" is such a loaded word. It can be a physical space, a comforting meal, a warm hug from a favorite person. It’s one of those things that can take infinite shapes but really means the same thing: a place where you can feel safe, secure, at peace.
I started creating Custom Home Portraits in 2015 and have completed over 40 commissioned drawings for homes across the country. Whether customers want to celebrate a housewarming or commemorate a childhood home that was recently sold, these usually end up being fairly emotional projects.
Producing these house drawings requires resourcefulness and clear communication. People have sent me screenshots from Google Maps, scans of antique photographs and/or blueprints of unfinished properties to help create their drawings. No matter the source images, the end result is a simple black and white line drawing that captures the building's structure with a lot of charm.
Digital DNA is an annual conference, trade show, and networking event that celebrates the budding tech culture in Belfast, Northern Ireland. We were asked to design a trade show booth that felt futuristic, playful and inviting, while also paying homage to Belfast’s historically industrial roots.
The Signifyd Design team is small, mighty and multidisciplinary. I was tasked with creating a logo to unify this group of web, UX, product and marketing designers. The objective was to brand us as design leaders and service providers to other non-design groups within the organization.
